Outfit Moray wins The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
The Board of Directors of Outf!t-Moray are delighted to announce that we have won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for our work in the local community. Outf!t-Moray began in 2003 and was initially part of Elgin Youth Cafe. In 2006 it became a charity in its own right providing a wide range of outdoor activities and services to young people actively supporting schools and youth organisations across Moray. The project is run by a Board of 5 volunteer Directors and the three full time instructors are supported by a team of 16 volunteers who provide invaluable assistance to the project. Chairman, Iain Jamieson said “this is a tremendous achievement and is a worthy recognition for all the effort and energy invested by our 21 volunteers who are passionate about outdoor education and the value that it brings to support the development of young people”. This National Honour is described as the ‘MBE for volunteer groups’ and is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK for outstanding work done in local communities. Outf!t-Moray along with another local Charity are the first two organisations in Moray that have received this award. |
