activ8Schools and Youth organisations (Activ8)

Activ8 works with schools and other youth agencies to provide outdoor education opportunities for young people aged 11-18 years to support their learning and development (both physical and emotional). Programmes range from large events, team building, skills development, journeying and expeditions, transition work with Primary 7 and Secondary year 1 (S1) to small group work linked to the curriculum.

This service is available to any school or youth organisation during the school term, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Young people with additional support needs (EnerG)enerG

EnerG provides outdoor education programmes for 11-24 year olds who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. These programmes will:
  1. Encourage positive behaviour through guided support, setting boundaries and where staff act as "positive role models".
  2. Provide a structured approach to risk taking and alternative options to divert young people from less appropriate activities.
  3. Promote social inclusion and interaction in an environment where young people are encouraged to communicate, share, learn new skills and have fun.

This service is available during the school term, evenings, weekends and holidays. Programmes range from one to one working, small group workenerg, one-off activities and events to longer term work (Active Steps).

Active Steps programmes generally run over at least an 8 week period, with a half-day activity session per week (during school hours). Group size is no more than 6 young people and Ouf!t always supports the group with two members of staff.

Work with groups is evaluated throughout the programme, and reports can be sent to referees on a weekly basis if required. Each young person is treated as an individual and we work with you as part of a holistic development programme.

Referrals are accepted from schools, youth organisations, social workers and agencies working with young people.

During the young person's time with Outf!t, we work on the reason for referral, build confidence and self-esteem and offer the opportunity to experience many different activities. Often young people gain a qualification (e.g. Emergency First Aid).
