June 14, 2011 by carolines99

We had a great day bodyboarding at Sandend with young people from Alford Academy on the 27th of May, despite the crazy winds.  Much fun was had by all, and we discovered a few budding surfers!

Moray Way Sponsored Bike Ride

April 7, 2011 by Nelson

We’ve done the Moray Way! On the 21st and 22nd May 2011 12 Outfit Moray staff and volunteers completed a 95 mile off road bike ride to raise funds for Outfit.  Starting and finishing in Lossiemouth we linked the Moray Coastal trail, Spey Side way and Dava way, spending the night near Grantown on Spey. After 11 hours of pedaling,  10 crashes, 2 punctures, 1 broken chain, 1 bent rear mech, 1 broken brake, 1 buckled wheel,  12 sore bums, 24 very sore legs and 12 big smiles we have raised over £500 for our charity. Thanks to everyone who donated we really appreciate it.

Queens Award for Voluntary Service

February 23, 2011 by marc99

The Board of Directors of Outfit-Moray are delighted to announce that we have won the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for our work in the local community.  Outfit-Moray began in 2003 and was initially part of Elgin Youth Cafe.  In 2006 it became a charity in its own right providing a wide range of outdoor activities and services to young people actively supporting schools and youth organisations across Moray.  The project is run by a Board of 5 volunteer Directors and the three full time instructors are supported by a team of 16 volunteers who provide invaluable assistance to the project.  Chairman, Iain Jamieson said “this is a tremendous achievement and is a worthy recognition for all the effort and energy invested by our 21 volunteers who are passionate about outdoor education and the value that it brings to support the development of young people”. This National Honour is described as the ‘MBE for volunteer groups’ and is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK for outstanding work done in local communities.  Outfit-Moray along with another local Charity are the first two organisations in Moray that have received this award.

Summit 2 Sea raises £1800

May 30, 2009 by marc99

Our Summit 2 Sea event raised £1800

This money will be put towards subsidising activity programmes for young people in Moray.

Cairngorm to Spey Bay by leg, saddle and paddle!

23rd and 24th May 2009

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped out during this event, especially Andy Holtby who was the brains and organiser behind the event, Rosie Black who ran the shuttle for us on Sunday and Iain and Steve for driving.

We ran from a very windy summit of Cairngorm to Glenmore.
Mountain biked over the Ryovan pass through Nethy forest to Cromdale.
Voyager Canoed to Ballindalloch which did involve a small epic once we’d capsised above Advie bridge!
Then it was time for a well earned rest and BBQ at the campsite
On the second day we cycled to Spey bay before enjoying a dip in the north sea!
The total length of the journey was 100km.

Once our legs have recovered, we’ll start planning next year’s challenge – watch this space………………………………………

All the money raised will go directly towards making a positive difference to the lives of young people in Moray.
