Bushcraft skills have become increasingly popular in recent years and this is a great activity for families or groups to test their skills and learn some more. We use a number of local woodlands around Moray to cover subjects including fire craft, outdoor cooking, shelter building and the environment. These are the kinds of skills well known by our ancestors, many of which are still practiced on a day to day basis and are a vital skill in some parts of the world. While the tools may have changed, the skills are much the same. A typical session would include how to build a fire ensuring that we leave no trace of it once we have finished, how to build a shelter from natural materials and of course using the fire to cook on.
